My works in Clay . . .
Having Potter as a last name meant I was destined to try my hand at clay.
My journey began with Bernard Leach. There is a line somewhere in his book, advice to someone who wanted to learn the craft - and it went something like this. . . ‘you’re already too old. . . it takes a full lifetime to learn ceramics.’
I won’t argue. . . it’s a formidable hill to climb . . glazes, clays . . . just learning to throw took me forever.
Clay gives me grounding, It connects me to the earth and to the essence of abstract form.
